Their Story

Vibu and Poorna's story is quite cheesy. Literally.

Like typical traditional marriages, it all began as an arrangement as two random strangers got introduced to each other at the Chidambaram temple on a cool crisp evening. And yes, like you guessed it, the two were Janani and Anita! Hailing from two different parts of the world, Janani is Vibushan's sister and loves traveling and food; Anita is a Serb (Like Djokovic but they don't know each other) settled in Germany who loves Bharatanatyam, Yoga and Indian food! So, what is in common? That's right, Cheese!

Among Janani's favourite cheese is Kajmak and Anita was astonished to hear a complete stranger sitting in the Chidambaram temple talk about this lesser known cheese from her part of the world! And Anita loves Paneer, our very own fresh cottage cheese. They became good friends and parted with a promise that they would meet again with cheese in hand! And two years later, they actually did. Anita remembered to bring Kajmak to a heavily pregnant Janani while visiting her along with her host at Coimbatore. A truly small world it was, when Janani realised that this host turned out to be a close family friend, PNR Uncle!

It was then that the ball started rolling! PNR Uncle casually asked about Vibushan when the parents happened to mention they were looking for a suitable bride. He knew Poorna's family very well and made a mental note to link the families through a possible matrimonial alliance. Thus PNR Uncle, the cupid's incarnate in this story made the arrangement happen and the rest is history but not over yet!

So, Vibushan and Poorna decided to meet for the first time for a casual dinner on the 25th of December. This got him worried. Worried if he'd be able to get a reservation on a busy Christmas night (but perhaps the least of all his worries at that point!). Once at dinner, they got to talking the pleasantries - movies, music and the sorts. And then Vibushan declared his love (...wait for it...) for evolution and began describing the grandeur of this theory. Much to his wonder, at the end of the conversation, the other chair wasn't empty. Instead the conversation steered beyond the pleasantries, ranging from Immanuel Kant to Rajinikanth, Mars One to Madhavan, Bombay Jayshree to Bombay Brasserie (a restaurant in cbe). It was weird these two had never met each other before!

As the days went by, they got to know a lot more about each other and they were poles apart- in ideologies, tastes and activities. He loves Iron Maiden and Metallica. She'd rather hear cats claw their way up a wall. She loves dancing and he has two left feet. She loves Zumba and he loves zombies. Amidst all these differences, lay the key to their eternal happiness - a strange love for orange bean bags. And they fell headlong. In love.

They were formally engaged on January 18, 2015. He currently lives in Melbourne while she in Coimbatore. They are getting married on May 29. Poorna believes some events are preordained to happen while Vibushan thinks its absolute order from chaos. Either perspectives set a beautiful pretext to the wonderful journey they are about to embark upon together.

We know who moved their cheese now, eh? ;)
